Geotextiles for Added Liner Protection
Pond Underlayment and Overlayment Fabrics are designed to provide an added layer of protection under and/or on top of liners. Commonly made from a nonwoven filter fabric, these geotextiles work to protect the bottom of liners from abrasion, rocks, puncture and unwanted growth. When used as overlayment, geotextiles add an extra layer of strength for placement of rocks or other materials. Both options will work to increase the lifespan of your liners for the duration of their use.

The pond overlayment and underlayment fabric, also known as geotextile filter fabric, is a needle-punched fabric used in a range of locations to help with drainage, filtration and abrasion protection. Often used for road stabilization, drainage ditches, or erosion control, these geotextiles are high in strength and well equipped to handle outdoor applications. Geotextiles are most commonly used in ponds or tanks where abrasion protection is required (such concrete pond or cisterns) or in areas where rocks or other sharp objects may come into contact with the liner.
While a lot of areas require the 8 oz. nonwoven fabric for overlayment or underlayment in ponds, we also offer fabrics ranging anywhere from 3 oz. to 16 oz. Depending on the material used for your location (sand, rock, etc.) different fabrics may be required to support and stabilize your location. Woven fabrics are also available for areas looking to control and contain gases or aggregate movement.
Installation
Installation of a geotextile fabric can be achieved either before or after installation of the liner, depending on the specific requirements of your location. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or installation requirements.
